Routine Spiritual Dimensions Curriculum

Through a variety of challenging and playful activities, students acquire fundamental tools for learning and discover the interrelationships of subjects. The students, parents and teachers, set goals for each trimester. These individualized goals become the basis for a written Learning Plan.

The curriculum is built on core subject matter:

  • Reading; literature

  • History;  American/World History, Geography

  • Writing; mechanics, poetry, composition, journaling

  • Mathematics

  • Science; biology, chemistry, physical science, technology

  • Community building; play, out-reach, retreats

  • Languages; Spanish, French

  • The arts; music, drama, pottery, painting, sketching, photography, wood working, stitching

  • Computers are used extensively through the program

  • Global awareness; current events and perspectives

  • Project development and presentation

  • Portfolio development for college admission

The partnership of teaching and learning invites each person to explore new strategies, and to develop responsibility and self-knowledge. Instruction is paced appropriately for each individual. Students learn to recognize and evaluate their progress. They receive coaching in developing a Learning Journal, which illustrates their growth. Each student is expected and encouraged to invest beyond the minimum exposure to a topic. The Journal becomes a significant demonstration of learning, complemented by standardized skill indicators, exhibits, and presentations.

In addition to the core curriculum, our program focuses on developing the whole person in a supportive environment. Students develop age-appropriate skills in:

  • personal accountability
  • investing joyfully in learning
  • specific strategies to aid learning
  • yoga, concentration, communication, and listening skills
  • acceptance of self, others, and situations
  • dealing with conflict and change
  • social confidence and interaction skills
