Approach to teaching:
-
Our three children have three different learning styles,
none of which have fared well in the traditional educational institutions;
public schools and “prestigious” private ones. The Studio community has
embraced and been embraced by our girls with a result of achievement and self
confidence that makes us cry... and laugh… and cheer. Thank you Margee and
thank you all “fellow travelers” of The Studio Way. Regards, A Studio
Parent.

Our daughter was diagnosed with a learning difference
(audio processing) by a team of physicians at the end of her 5th grade year.
The public school wanted to classify her; putting a stigma on her for the rest
of her life. A well know private school in the area, took a sink or swim
approach and it just was not working. This caused a great deal of
frustration, anguish, and despondency on the part of our daughter. She
stayed up until 11pm nearly every night trying to get the homework done since
much of the lectures were given in noisy rooms with tiled floors and cement
walls. She hated to go to school. My wife and I knew we had to
make a change, our daughter was bright, and beautiful as a person, we were not
going to let this difference in learning destroy her, but what were we to do?
Where were we to go? That is when we found The Studio. With 3
weeks left in the school year of her seventh grade, we took her out of that
private school and enrolled her in The Studio. A remarkable
transformation occurred in what seemed to be over night. She could not
wait to get to school. She started writing poetry and essays. Math
has become one of her favorite subjects. She has memorized plays and
scripts, grown in community building experiences and as a 10th grader,
continues to be immersed in a life of learning. The studio has made all the difference.
